I'm a "B!tch" and I'm Proud

I'm a "B!tch" and I'm Proud

Yes, you read that title right. I am a bitch and I am proud. Now I'm sure that if I asked you to describe someone you thought was a bitch you might use words such as selfish, aggressive, opinionative or assertive. When I think of those words, I don't associate them with negative connotations whatsoever. I associate them with power and authority.

I am proud of the person I am, through and through. Yes, there are things I am working on or could fine tune, but I think I turned out alright. My personality is bold and my presence is known. When I walk into a room, I walk in with a purpose and I want people to know that I am there. I am a straight up hard ass, just like my Father, who taught me how to stick up for myself and fight for what you want. Everything that I have, I worked for. No handouts. I have been called selfish, aggressive, opinionative and assertive so does that make me a "bitch"? To society and it's double standards, yes it does. But, you describe a man with those same adjectives, he's a "boss".

Am I missing something? Why is it that just because I am a female, I am not put into the same category of power and respect? Instead, I am labeled and outcasted. Because of this, women are more likely to stay quiet, walk the straight and narrow and not ruffle anyone's feathers. Screw ALL of that. If there is something you are dissatisfied with? SPEAK UP! If there is something you want to change? DO IT! Don't let the idea of being considered a "bitch" deter you from making personal gains and asking for what you want, or better yet, deserve. You should never settle for anything less and you should know your self worth and fight to keep it. The minute you settle for less, you are devaluing yourself and that is where you will stay. This clip of Nicki Minaj says it all. She decided to shut down a photo shoot because it was bush league and not worth her time or effort. Of course, she was immediately called a bitch all because she knew she holds her standards high and would not settle for less. We need more women in the world just like this.
