#BlackPower - February 2017
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world” - Harriet Tubman
In celebration of Black History Month we have gathered some of our favorite black women to showcase their beauty and celebrate their heritage. With the last few years causing unrest throughout the US - countless numbers of black citizens being gunned down - we feel that this is a time for all of America to stand up in unity and agree that we will not be filled with hate, but with love. As black women we still must work ten times as hard at everything we do, but not let anyone tell us we are “mad black women.” We are proud of our skin. We are proud of our hair. We are PROUD of our roots.
As much as we want to give in and believe that all of America is racist towards our ethnicity, we need to remind ourselves that there are people who do not care if we are black, white, blue or purple. Dr. King wanted a future where we would be judged by the content of our character NOT the color of our skin. Even though there are times where we doubt this progression in society, the only way we can move forward into the future is to ignore the bigots and the racists and embrace those who will embrace us.
This month should be a celebration of all the Harriett’s, all the Malcom’s, all the Martin’s, all the Maya’s, all the Michelle’s, all the Beyonce’s, and all of the you’s who continue to make us proud to be African-American and who help to create a better future for the black community.
