How long was your hair before you cut it? My hair hit around the middle of my back before I started experimenting with it in college. Growing up I would not let anyone besides my Mom's hairdresser cut or color my hair and it was always just a trim and blonde highlights. So boring!
What made you want to shave your head? Did you have any hesitations before you cut it? The Skrillex side shave was starting to gain popularity around the time I first shaved my head. My hairdresser is eccentric and was urging me to do it, so I finally gave in. She just shaved a square on the right side of my head that I was able to hide when needed and I loved it. I felt like my hair was finally starting to fit my personality. After a year or so of that style, I decided I wanted to make a bold change and shave my entire head - like Pink. I wouldn't say I had any hesitation about it, more so I was like, "well if I don't like it, I'm shit outta luck." Luckily my hairdresser is the queen of short hair and killed it.
What are some things people have said about your hairstyle? Good or bad. I usually get at least one compliment a day on my hair from both men and women and it never gets old :) Women are always saying "Wow, I wish I could do that to my hair!" and all I tell them is that they absolutely can. I wish more women would go against the norm and do something crazy! While I usually get positive remarks on my hair, I did have one basic ass bitch say I looked like a Lesbian and my friend overheard it. Me being me, I put her right back in her place.
Would you ever grow your hair back out to its original length? Why or why not? I don't think I would grow my hair back to its original length. I was so attached to my hair my entire life and looking back I am happy I finally realized that it's just hair, it grows back. Experimenting with colors and lengths has been so much fun! I also prefer the way I look with shorter hair, so I will probably keep this for a while. I do have this burning desire to pull a Britney and shave my entire head, but I don't have the face for it and my head is way too big.
Do you have a favorite salon in the city? Shout out to my hairdresser, Gina Guzzardi at Bangz Salon in Merrick, NY and my barber, Brian Basile at Strong Island Styles in Glen Cove, NY!
